Best period to travel to Munich
The best months to enjoy Munich are those of spring and summer: temperatures rise, making it the ideal season to visit Bavaria, its castles, and lakes. October and november are also great months to enjoy the parks and gardens, when the trees take on their autumn colors, and of course, it’s the perfect time to attend Oktoberfest, the famous beer festival. During Advent, Marienplatz in Munich fills with Christmas stalls, creating a joyful atmosphere.
What Munich has to offer ?

The museum city
Munich is primarily known, beyond its borders, for its 3 Pinakotheks – the Old, New, and Modern: museums that house several masterpieces of european painting. Rubens, Rembrandt, Leonardo da Vinci… the works of great masters are displayed alongside graphic arts, architecture, and design. Unless you prefer the Deutsches Museum, dedicated to science and technology, or the one focused on the local economic icon : BMW.

Cultural stroll
Gateway to Bavaria and the majestic castles of King Louis II of Bavaria, Munich is home to numerous historic buildings with remarkable architecture : from Nymphenburg Palace to the Residence of the Bavarian sovereigns. Another curiosity : the approximately 1,200 fountains that line the promenade, including the Fish fountain, the oldest of them all.

Sporting stop
Built for the 1972 olympic games, the 3 km² olympic park located to the north of Munich is one of the city's modern symbols. It features a glass tent-shaped roof and a 290-meter-high tower. In addition to sporting events, the park offers a range of leisure activities, such as the summer fair and the Tollwood theater festival.

Bavarian tradition
For beer lovers, Oktoberfest, the Beer festival, is an old Bavarian tradition that takes place between September… and October. This large fair is famous for its festive and family-friendly atmosphere, starting with a parade of people in traditional costumes and continuing under a large tent where it's great to listen to music and drink beer… preferably german beer !
