Best period to travel to Cagliari
Along the southern coastline of Sardinia, the city of Cagliari is abundant in sunshine all year round! Thanks to its Mediterranean climate, summer is especially hot and dry. From the city walls, you can enjoy an unobstructed view of the Golfo degli Angelia (‘Gulf of the Angels). The warm weather gradually eases in autumn, making way for winter, which starts in December. Although, with an average temperature of 15℃, you can expect nice weather in winter as well!
What Cagliari has to offer?

A Historic City
Being the capital of Sardinia, Cagliari is well worth a visit! The fortified Castello neighbourhood is a great place to start. There are loads to see here on a rocky hill overlooking the town, with its Bastione di Saint Remy and the Elefante Tower! You should also try and visit the Citadella dei Musei (with its 4 museums), the Roman Amphitheatre and Villa di Tigellio, or the Necropolis of Tuvixeddu (the "hill of the little flowers")… And don’t forget the middle-class seafaring and farming districts of Stampace, Marina, and Villanova.
Natural Landscape
Cagliari has lots of beautiful natural landscapes to discover. The Molentargius Natural Park is home to 177 species of bird. And don’t forget the Sette Fratelli Park, where you can spot a Sardinian deer or two. On the seaside, visit the Poetto, with its 8km stretch of warm sand: and the beaches of Tuerredda, Porto, and Piscinni. And Villasimius Beach is a protected marine area perfect for diving!
Rich Cultural Heritage
To discover a more authentic version of Sardinia, head inland to the village of Sarrabus. Here you’ll be able to listen to people playing the Launeddas, an ancient instrument played at festivals and religious ceremonies. Further inland, you’ll discover the Trenino Verde della Sardegna (Sardinia’s Little Green Train) and some of the best unspoilt natural landscapes.
