Best period to travel to Pise
The sun shines bright all year round in Pisa. In spring, enjoy the Mediterranean climate. Summer is hot and dry, a perfect time to explore the city’s beautiful architecture as you walk along the bank of the Arno, which flows through the city. With the moderate climate and warm colours, autumn is a great time to rediscover the city in a new light. Although a little cooler, the winter weather is still nice, ideal for exploring some of the city’s historic sights.

On both sides of the River Arno- which runs through the centre of west Italy- the city of Pisa overlooks the beautiful natural landscapes of Tuscany. With more than 92,000 inhabitants, Pisa is one of Italy’s most important cultural hubs.
An Architectural Mystery
With its Islamic, Lombard and local influences, the unique architecture of Pisa can only be described as breathtaking. This is best reflected in the Piazza dei Miracoli, a World Heritage Site. The Romanesque cathedral will leave you lost for words. In a nearby square, you might find quite a famous Tower. At 56 metres high, the famous Leaning Tower of Pisa owes its fame not only to its beauty but also to land subsidence that left it unfinished.
To Florence
If you continue your morning stroll along the River Arno you’ll eventually end up in Florence. Or you could just take the train. The birthplace of the Renaissance, the city of Florence is a real treasure trove for art enthusiasts. In this open-air museum, make sure the visit the Florence Cathedral, Uffizi Gallery, and the Palazzo Pitti, home to the royal flats, a modern art gallery, the silverware museums, and the Palatine Gallery.
Thermal Springs
Since ancient times, Tuscany has been famous for its thermal springs, known for their health benefits. Just 7km away from Pisa, the thermal baths in the town of San Giuliano have water temperatures of 40℃. If you like saltwater, Marina di Pisa and Tirrenia are great places to go for a swim, on a coastline filled with dunes and pinewood.
And there are plenty of regional specialities- such as cured meats, fish, truffles, and local wines- to whet your appetite. Buon appetito!
